C had her first official snow day of her school career this week. School was called off on Wednesday due to a snow "storm" that fell overnight Tuesday. It brought our area about 3-4 inches...hardly the foot of snow they thought might land on us. The girls were looking forward to playing in it when they woke up and saw our snow covered neighborhood. We spent lots of time getting layers of clothing, extra socks, hats, mittens, coats and boots on and then we ventured out to make a snowman. But to our disappointment the snow didn't pack well and we ended up with, well, more of a small snow mountain in the front yard. Ellen and Sophie really weren't loving the snow once we got out there, either. They didn't think it was fun to walk in it, stand in it, play in it or really even be near it. So silly! They kept saying "yucky". However Corinne had a great time and got busy making snow mazes, snow angels, and just generally found all kinds of ways to enjoy (and eat) it. I have no doubt she would have stayed out most of the day if E and S would have. We compromised and came in for some hot cocoa, which was a nice second choice for C. (Ellen in striped fleece inside and pink coat outside; Sophie in blue fleece inside and purple coat outside; C and Soph with their cocoa)

Funny! Corinne looks overjoyed and Sophie and Ellen look very unhappy. Luckily, everyone seems to like the hot chocolate. That was always the best part after playing in the snow or going sledding ... getting back home to Mom's homemade chili and some hot chocolate.
Very cute. Even though snow is "yucky", hot chocolate makes it all worth while as evidenced by the cute expression Sophie has.
Well I hope they played for me, as I am still waiting for my first snowfall of the year here in the lowlands. The mountains have been dumped on, but sad to say - nothing for us! :( So I've been living vicariously through your snow and Di's snow. Glad you had fun! ...geri
