Graduation Day

E and S graduated from pre-school! They did not wear a cap and gown but they did walk down the aisle to "Pomp and Circumstance" and they did receive a "diploma". In between they put on a sweet program, singing lots of songs and performing all the motions. It was really a memorable morning and hard to believe the year is over. The girls' teachers were so wonderful and made the year really special and positive for the girls. They learned a ton and made some great friends, too!

Dance Recital

Loved watching the girls dance in their dance recital! I was backstage trying to occupy A LOT of excited children but it was so fun to watch the girls perform this year. They did a great job and C was part of an extra dance with just a few other dancers. She loved dancing twice and worked really hard at extra rehearsals. E and S loved their costumes - affectionately described to others as a combination of Elsa and Ariel! What could be better??!!

Birthday #5!

Five years old for E & S! We had a birthday party playdate at the park for E and S and some of their buddies. We had no idea it would be 80 plus degrees that day...wish we had been at the pool instead! They enjoyed their friends and of course loved their cake, too. What a day!

Soccer Season

The girls are loving playing soccer this year! Largely due to playing on teams with their cousins and having Brett and Uncle Tim for their coaches. Saturdays around here are a family affair with all the grandparents joining us as well. We love soccer Saturdays!

Kindergarten Orientation

So hard to believe!! E and S are off to kindergarten in the fall and recently attended orientation for next year! Their morning was full of fun - they met new friends and hung with some old ones too. And the morning was highlighted by a ride on the bus. Woohoo!

Getting Ready for Easter

We finally got to dye Easter eggs this year! And we also did an activity to prepare our hearts for Easter. Easter weekend is super busy for us every year, but it's so important to take time to be intentional about the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate.

Getaway Day #2: Indy Children's Museum

This place was amazing! More than we could ever see and do in one visit, for sure. We spent a day at the Children's Museum and we were also thoroughly worn out by the end of the day. Some of our favorite exhibits: Lost Treasures, Dinosaurs, China, Hollywood: Behind the Scenes, Miniature Rooms, Transformers, and of course the indoor Carousel. Five floors of exhibits...I think we made it through only 2.5 floors. But it was time well spent and made for a great day!

Getaway Day #1: Indy Zoo

We decided to do a little family getaway during the girls' spring break and went to Indianapolis for two days. It was short but we did a lot! The first day we spent at the Indy Zoo. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed seeing some familiar animals in a new setting. Lots of walking = tired girls!

We kicked off our spring break by playing at the park! It was a little chilly to start the week but we enjoyed picking flowers, checking out the creek and being together.

Aquarium

Memaw and Grandpa recently took our kids to the aquarium while Brett and I got away for one night! They, of course, had a blast! So did we!

We love our small group!! Recently we celebrated birthdays for everyone who has a spring birthday. This isn't even the entire group, but look at all those sweet faces!

New Addition

There's a new Schatz in the world! Cousin Emily arrived and is as cute as can be!

Zoo Class

The girls did a one day class with their friends at the zoo and had a ball! Corinne took her buddy Gwyn and they learned about animals' eyesight in a class called "Eye Spy". Ellen and Sophie's class was called "Feet are Neat" and they learned some interesting facts about a butterfly's feet. Ask them about it sometime!

First Date!

C went to a daddy daughter dance over the weekend with Brett and a group of our friends and we are so glad they had the opportunity! Apparently the whole night was awesome - Brett said C was dancing on the dance floor, front and center in front of the DJ, the entire time. With her own moves even! He was so proud of her and said she was completely in her element - confident and uninhibited. I so wish I could have seen her! But I am so thankful for the special night they had. She was so energized when she got home and Brett was pumped about the night as well. Sweet memories!

Fun in the Snow

We had a blast playing in the snow over the weekend. It was the most snowfall we've gotten this winter and the girls enjoyed being out in it. And of course coming in to have hot chocolate, too!

Mini Flyerettes

C did a one time dance clinic with the high school dance team in our district and then all the participants danced with the dance team at halftime of a high school basketball game. She loved the music, the dancing...pretty much everything about it. Lots of friends from school, church and the neighborhood participated and one of our high school babysitters and her family came to watch, too (along with grandparents of course). Here is C with one of her friends from school. What fun!

Snow Days

 

One of our many snow days (we were off for a whole week due to snow or cold temps or both) included Brett coming home a little early from work. And once again he came up with the most fun ideas for the girls. Forts!

Daily Gig

This photo was definitely taken before the start of the bitter cold spell we have been stuck in for the last two weeks began. (Notice the nice sunlight and no winter coats. Ahh. To have a day like that again!) But anyway, I'm sharing this picture because the front passenger seat is the new novelty in our morning and afternoon car rides to the bus stop each day. And after walking C to get on the bus one morning, I came back to E and S who were so proud of themselves for buckling themselves in to the seat...together. Cute.

Skating Party

We all laced up our skates for a special family skate night just for Corinne's school -- first time ever for the girls. Corinne had a blast and embraced the evening -- wobbly but determined! We were proud of her. Soph started off with a bang and lots of can-do attitude as well.  But things went downhill for her after she spotted some toys/prizes in the game section that she wanted and decided she wasn't into the skating afterall. Ellen skated for a bit at the beginning but was the most timid and least impressed by this new pastime. All in all it was a pretty positive night for all of us and Corinne skated right up to the last song, red cheeks and all. Did I mention she loved the loud music and special lights? If she could have danced AND skated she would have. But staying on her feet kept her pretty busy. Surprisingly Brett and I even snuck in two laps by ourselves, much to the girls displeasure! We are thinking about going back again. And looking for some in-line skates (plus knee pads!) for the Schatz fam.
