Last Music Class

E & S just finished a year of music class and they had a special class the last day. They enjoyed the year and it was great to see their progression of skill and also comfort level and participation as the year went on. Their teacher was terrific and loved them just for who they each are...I'm always so thankful when the girls are under the care of people like that! Especially when I see it in educators who don't know my children from the next one(s). I so appreciate it when others take the time to know them as individuals with their own unique quirks, gifts, and personalities. (that's E on top and S in the center photo)

Disguised

Can you guess who these girls are?! Love these disguises they got at a recent birthday party!

All Wet

Its so funny to me that the Y looks the same as it did when I grew up going there 25 years ago! But here we are doing swim lessons just like I did. Interestingly enough E & S are in C's class because of the age groupings. I'm hoping that will work in our favor for E & S, who aren't nearly as into it as Corinne is. Swim lessons end just in time for summer vacation so maybe the girls will pick up a few things in time for the beach! (E on left)

Party Time: Double the Fun

It was a fun party for E & S, complete with the PINK cakes (with blue M&M's) they insisted on! We had planned for a cookout... but unfortunately it was raining so hard that Brett had to prop up the umbrella while he so perfectly grilled the burgers and corn on the cob in the rain. It didn't put a damper on Ellen and Sophie's excitement (nor Corinne's as shown in the photo of E opening a gift from her). It was a blessing to celebrate the girls with our extended families and we are thankful for all the people who love them.

A Contrast in Naps

That would be Ellen who has made a habit lately of falling asleep at the top of our stairs for her naps (long story...) And the next picture is Sophie taking a nap. Can you find her? Look closely but I promise she's there. Her bed is literally piled 5 dolls/animals/blankets high with a wee bit of sleeping room for her. I mean, really?! These girls are something else! Good thing we think they're so cute and loveable!

Birthday #3...times two

Monday was Ellen and Sophie's 3rd birthday. We had their party on Sunday night with the Schatzes and the Grigsbys. On their actual birthday we started off with our normal routine--take C to school,  go on to music class, back to pick up C and then home for lunch. However the girls did get to watch their new Tinkerbell movie in the afternoon, they opened their birthday mail at the mailbox, practiced on their new scooters and we went to Skyline for dinner. Of course we had leftover birthday cake from the night before, too! And actually EVERYONE went to bed early because we were all tired from the weekend's many fun events.

Derby

We went to a really fun Derby party over the weekend (thanks Aunt Marce for babysitting)! Everyone wore derby hats -- unfortunately we had taken them off by the end of the night when this photo was taken. It was a fun group and a great evening...even though we didn't win any money.

The Pig

Marcey & I did the Flying Pig 10k over the weekend--so fun! My friends Jenn and Lauren did it too and we met our goal and finished in under an hour for 6.2 miles. I hope to train for the half marathon sometime in then next year or two...until then I'll keep running the 10k or I'd also love to try the relay. Anyone want to get on board for next year?!?

Fun Week!

It's always a special week when Aunt M is in town! We loved playing, reading, running and hanging out with her! We tried out an awesome new local lunch spot and just enjoyed having her here all week. Thanks, Marce. See you at the beach...!

Dance Recital

I've been way behind on my posts! This last week has been a super busy one--Aunt Marcey has been in town and we've also had a lot of firsts. First dance recital, first trip to the dentist for E & S, first kindergarten orientation (including first school bus ride!) for C, and first Flying Pig 10k for me. All capped off by Ellen and Sophie turning 3...today! Whew. It has been super fun! So here are some pictures of Corinne before, during and after her dance recital. She LOVED taking dance from her Aunt Sarah this year and it has been such a great thing for her. Sarah put on a phenomenal recital all centered around worshiping Jesus through the gift of dance. Amazing show! I'll post a short video if I can. The songs C's class danced to were: The Fruit of the Spirit and Awesome God. Brett and I were very proud of Corinne--no stage fright, no hesitation. Just doing what she loves up on stage. She was terrific! And of course we celebrated with some ice cream at our new favorite neighborhood spot afterward.
