Two-ness

Corinne is every bit of 2 1/2 these days. She is such a sweet natured kid, but we have been experiencing her "twoness" lately. Could be the age--which would be very normal--but it could also be in reaction to all that we have going on at our house these days. My guess is it's a combination of both. All of a sudden she strongly protests baths, and especially getting her hair washed. She used to play in the bath until we had to coax her out! We've even gotten new bath toys and little pellets to make the water turn colors. This used to be a great time for Corinne and Brett since I gave up doing baths around week 32 of my pregnancy. Now, it's downright unpleasant some nights. Little C has also mastered the art of throwing tantrums. The littlest things can set her off these days. In the picture above she was only wearing one sock because she got a scratch (okay, it did bleed) on her foot and cried every time she saw it. What?! That's nuts, I know. But wearing one sock seemed to help, so we went with it! She can be cranky after naps, even though she sleeps for 2 hours most days and still goes to bed around 7:45pm. Maybe getting up at 6:30 lately has something to do with that?! The other day she was having a rough morning and we read "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day"...I thought it appropriate and we used the opportunity to talk about how she was feeling and how we all have days like that. I know that toddlers throw tantrums because they haven't quite learned how to control their strong emotions and their newfound range of feelings. But geez. Sometimes my patience for it runs thin! On the bright side, Corinne is now half way to 3 and if I've learned one thing about kids it's that everything is a phase and will eventually work out, smooth out, or die out. And thankfully she ADORES Ellen and Sophie and still talks sweetly to them with hugs and kisses all the time. Corinne is truly a sweetheart, with a huge sensitivity for other people and a gentle spirit. Even she can't bypass what it means to be two sometimes...no one's perfect, right?! Even if she is an angel.

Ha ha ha! Your post made me laugh! I have to admit it is encouraging to hear that even wonderful angelic kids little Corrinne can have their moments. Gwyn is starting to throw tantrums, too! It can be quite a challenge! Also, Gwyn hates having boo-boos and will whimper whenever she sees the boo-boo. :) And for days after she will point to the injured area and say "boo-boo" (just in case we were thinking about forgetting!). Ha ha...

Oh, our Little C is growing up! And everyone is experiencing the growing pains. : )

But she certainly is a sweetheart, and I've no doubt that will stay intact! Give her a hug and kisses from Aunt Marce.

Just a thought, C may protest a bath right now b/c she has a boo boo and it "burns" when wet. That's what we have discovered with Ella. Even the slightest bump or cut or scratch causes her to run and hide or stall before bath. And she has always loved her baths. We simply reassure Ella that we will be careful. We acknowledge any and all boo boos beforehand, and we allow her to keep them out of the tub/water if possible. Like if it's on her finger, she'll rest her hand on the side of the tub as if it were in a cast. Sooner or later, the affected area finds its way into the water with no worries. They are just wanting/needing a little more TLC b/c of all the changes. Regression is very normal if not expected. Hang in there. We've all been there and can try and offer up some suggestions. You're doing great!

Aaah, Life: always changing and challenging what you thought you knew. I'm glad to see you have other moms to compare notes with.

Can't wait to meet Cranky Corinne on Saturday.
